Welcome to Sierra Leone

Arrive in Freetown, settle into Country Lodge and meet fellow travelers at a warm welcome reception with introductions, journey orientation and a first taste of Sierra Leonean hospitality.

Historic Freetown

Explore the National Museum, Peace Museum and historic Old Fourah Bay College. Learn about Freetown's founding, Krio heritage and national renewal, then enjoy an evening barbecue at Mamba Point Lagoonda.

Nature, Art and Culture

Visit Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary, enjoy panoramic views from Leicester Peak, meet local artists at Bondumani Art Gallery and shop at the historic Big Market.

Bunce Island and Tasso Island

Travel by boat to Bunce Island for a remembrance ceremony, then continue to Tasso Island for an African Naming Ceremony and visits to Kissy Town Eco-Camp, Bethel Gardens and the Heritage Center. Present a Legacy Gift supporting community development.

Freedom Day

Join the inaugural commemoration honoring descendants of the Black Poor, Nova Scotian Black Loyalists, Jamaican Maroons, Krios and Gullah Geechee as communities rooted in freedom and self-determination.

Business Exchange and Journey to Bo

Join a Business and Culture Exchange at Fourah Bay College, then travel toward Bo with stops in Senehun and Moyamba Junction before a welcome celebration of singers and dancers.

Cultural Immersion in Bo

Experience traditional regalia and cultural artifacts, visit historic Bo School and enjoy a vivid masquerade performance with singers bringing celebration into the streets.

Heritage Journey to the Coast

Travel through Taiama, home of Njala University, explore rice cultivation traditions, ancient Nomoli figures and the story of Sengbe Pieh and the 1839 Amistad rebellion.

Restoration at Mozza Beach

Enjoy a restorative beach day with optional water sports, cultural activities and free time. Close the tour with a farewell dinner and bonfire under the stars.

Passport & visa

A valid passport is required. Travelers from the United States and United Kingdom must obtain a Sierra Leone visa.

Health & safety

Yellow fever vaccination is required, while malaria prophylaxis is recommended. Discuss your needs with a qualified clinician.
